Mark's dad was able to get tickets so we made a last minute decision to drive up to Ames to go to the game!  I'm so glad we did!!

Fort Hood

I traveled to Killeen, Texas last week to attend a bank meeting and we took a tour of Fort Hood.  It's pretty much the life blood of Killeen covering 214 square miles with a population of ~53,000.  If you are ever near a post I highly recommend touring.  It was very eye-opening to see how our country's service men and women live!

Tour of the obstacle course

I climbed it but certinaly did not propel down!

My boss playing a war zone simulator.
We got to hold and shoot mock M16's while playing a video game. After laughing at me for a few seconds, an NCO finally showed me how to hold it properly.

Baby Currie Update

Foodborne illness (also foodborne disease and colloquially referred to as food poisoning) is any illness resulting from the consumption of contaminated food, pathogenic bacteria, viruses, or parasites that contaminate food, as well as chemical or natural toxins such as poisonous mushrooms.

....And I was an unfortunate recipient last week causing a 4am trip to the hospital.  Everthing is fine but I think the doctor scared my husband when he asked if we were prepared for the baby to arrive.  Consequently, we spent the weekend picking out new carpet and painting the nursery.

Mark using AutoCAD to create a diagram for the striped wall.  For those non-engineers, AutoCAD is an engineering software program used to create 2D and 3D models.  Yup, that's my engineer and perfectionist...

....but i have to admit that it turned out pretty neat!

Dinner With The Girls

Leigh had us all over on Monday night and she cooked us dinner.  On the menu: veggies and hummus, kale salad, and chicken avocado salad over some type of healthy gluten-free bread (forgive me Leigh, I don't remember what it was called).  What's that? Sounds healthy? Yup, Leigh is a dietitian and she loves to try out her recipes on us.  What a great friend to have! :)

Oh and by the way...Jamie (the one on the top right) is pregnant and due in July!  Yay, I can't wait for Baby Currie to have a friend!

Iowa State - Mizzou Game

The Kansas City Iowa State Alumni Association held a game watch at Boulevard Brewery against Mizzou on Wednesday night. We had a lot of fun...even though the points didn't come out in our favor. Who doesn't love all you can drink boulevard beer and all you can eat mexican food?!

Baby Currie Update

We had another doctor appointment today and I'm sure you will all be very surprised when I tell you that included in the sonographer's comments were "oh my gosh those are big feet" and "wow, he's so long!"

Baby Currie weighed in at 2lbs 2ozs and his feet were already 2 inches long!  The measurements were calculating a due date of April 6th but my doc thinks he'll just be a long baby, so the due date is still April 20th. I guess no newborn clothes for my little boy!
