Christmas

We celebrated Christmas 3 different weekends this year!  Yup...we traveled back to Iowa 3 weekends in a row.  I guess you can call us the I29 road warriors.  Despite the 1,819 miles we put on our car we had a great time with our families! We are truly blessed!

Jay-Z Kanye West Watch the Throne Tour

I'm not sure which is more shocking... the fact that I actually had a bank customer that wanted to go to the Jay-Z Kanye concert?! Or the fact that I went when I was 5 months pregnant?!

I have always liked Jay-Z.  Not much of a fan of Kanye's.  But to be honest, the concert was amazing!  Or at least the 45 minutes that I got to see of it.  As soon as the lights went down the pot smoke went up!  What was I thinking?!?

21 Weeks - Over Half Way There

We forgot to take pictures at 20 weeks, which I can't believe we did.  That is supposed to be one of the most exciting milestones!!

Baby C is kicking like crazy.  He likes to play when Mom wants to lay down for some rest.  Do you think that will change once he's here?! :)   He also gets very active right after eating.  He either doesn't like what I eat or likes it so much that he's kicking for more!

Week 21 Trick - If Mom lays really still I kick really hard and she can feel it on the outside!  And then, when she yells for Dad to come feel I stop!

Baby Currie's First Book

We got a present in the mail from Uncle Robby last week and I had to share it with everyone. Thanks so much Uncle Robby!  Dad can't wait now!

Go the F to Sleep is a book written by American author Adam Mansbach and illustrated by Ricardo Cortés. Described as a "children's book for adults", it reached No. 1 on Amazon.com's bestseller list a month before its release, thanks to an unintended viral marketing campaign during which booksellers forwarded PDF copies of the book by email.

When Adam Mansbach's daughter Vivien was two, she would take up to two hours to fall asleep. Exhausted and exasperated, one night Mansbach posted a note on Facebook, "Look out for my forthcoming children’s book, Go the — to Sleep". Following his post, friends of Mansbach responded enthusiastically, so that Mansbach began writing what was then only a hypothetical book. Mansbach had the illustrations for the picture book done by a friend, illustrator Ricardo Cortés (a contributor to The New York Times), and approached Akashic Books, a book publisher from New York.

First Ultrasound

We had our first ultrasound on December 2nd...exactly 20 weeks.  Or at least mom thinks so.  My doc says Baby C is measuring 7 days ahead of my original due date, but we are going to stick with April 20th for now!  P.S. I apologize for the crooked photos.  I'm new to this whole blog thing and I'm not sure how to rotate the picture.
For the untrained eyes (or non-moms out there)...that's a boy!

Sucking his thumb!

I think he has his daddy's feet...look how flat that foot is!

Colorado Trip

November 11th, 2011 - November 14th, 2011

We decided to take advantage of David living in Fort Collins and traveled out there for an extended weekend.  We arrived Friday night  and went out to eat in Old Town.  The Christmas lights were amazing and I immediately fell in love.

Saturday morning we traveled to Horsetooth Mountain to go hiking despite the 60mph wind warning!  Mark was determined to make it to the top to show his friends that he could do it (Mark climbed Horsetooth with Michael Serra and Robby Bauer three years ago on a visit to see Kyle VanWinkle), but David had to make it back for football practice... at least that is the excuse we used.

Saturday night we went to the Colorado State University football game against San Diego State and made it.....umm.....20 minutes (sorry David).  Let just say that we weren't quite adapted to Colorado weather yet!

Mark surpised me with a hotel stay in Pikes Peak so we traveled up the mountains Sunday morning.  Our first stop was Rocky Mountain National Park.  It was absolutely breathtaking despite the fear of sliding off the icy roads.  We stopped for a short hike up Deer Mountain.  The trail was 3 miles long and I think we made it a little over a mile before we turned around; the trail got quite treacherous and the wind was picking up.

We got up early Monday morning and took the scenic route back to Denver via Peak to Peak Highway.  Absolutely serene!

Thanks for the fun weekend, David!

Breaking The News

We traveled back to Iowa the weekend of October 8th and broke the news about the new addition to our family.  No, it wasn't a cat this time.

We brought Ace back to the farm to live with Grandma and Grandpa Currie.  We tied a card around his neck that said
"Thank you so much for letting me come live on the farm.  I got kicked out of my current house to make room for Baby Currie."
It was a week away from Grandpa Lageschulte's birthday so I baked a cake that had our due date on it.
As you can tell from the cake, I won't be entering any cake decorating contests anytime soon.
We broke the news to Grandma and Grandpa Schoenherr with a onesie.  K'Lyn and Aaron gave them an Iowa onesie when they were pregnant so I decided to give them an ISU onesie with a note that said, "Now you can have one that wears the right colors."

Steve and Chelsey's Wedding

Congratulations to Steve and Chelsey!
Married September 17th, 2011

Mark's speech had people laughing hysterically so I figured I would post a small excerpt. Below is his top 10 advice list for the newly married couple...

10a. Everybody goes #2.
10b. If you need to brighten your day, watch Steven try to swallow a pill.  I suggest chewable dime-
a-tap tablets if he has a cold.
9.       Listen to each other.  You don’t always have to solve your spouse’s problems; sometimes they just want to let off some steam.
8.       Start planning where you will spend the holidays several years in advance.
7.       Make financial decisions as a team.
6.       Pick your battles. If you know she wants a purple one, get a purple one. Its not that big of a deal.
5.       Think about how your actions and words affect your spouse.
4.       Don’t get into electronics arguments with Steven, because you will lose.
3.       Use your parents and grandparents as a guide for your relationship.
2.       Grace and mercy always prevail……if your spouse runs the car into a concrete wall in a parking garage, you have to swallow your anger and just be there for a hug…right Angie?
1.       Grow together in your faith and make it a topic of conversation.
