10 MONTHS

10 MONTHS

Elliott celebrated 10 months on Valentine's Day!  He is still a VERY good baby, but is certainly creating a mind of his own.  I am surprised at how good his communication skills are already.  He's pretty easy to read, especially when he doesn't get something he wants! He's quite the chatter box.  It's usually just grunting, oooo's and ahhhh's, and occasionally momomomom and dadadada.  He is definitely on the go all the time, but I'm still amazed at his ability to focus on something as if he's trying to figure out it's existence.  When we put up the gate he studied it forever to figure out how to get around it.  I think we are raising another engineer in the family!

Favorites:
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (He grins from ear to ear whenever he sees it on tv or hears the song)
Opening and closing doors (He has figured out how to open the sliding glass door at Monique's if it's a little ajar)
Feeding himself (he's a carb lover like his mommy)
Rolling around on the bed with Dad

Schedule:
5:30am - wake for 5 oz bottle and fall back asleep
7am - wake for the day
8am - breakfast
9:30 - 10:30 - nap
11:30 - lunch
1:00 - 5 oz bottle
1:30 -2:30 nap
3:00 - snack
5:30 - dinner
6:30 - 5 oz bottle and down for the night

This is his new smile! What a cheeser!

Playing with the door...if I could only figure ot how that hinge works?

9 Months

9 Months

I'm going to sound like a broken record again, but I can't believe it's been 9 months since Elliott entered our lives.  Someone asked me in the store the other day how old he was and I had a hard time saying "9 months."  It sounds so old.  He's no longer a little baby!  He weighed 25lbs 4ozs (91%) and stood 29.5 inches talls (83%).

Favorite Things:
Reading "Little Blue Truck" with Dad before bed time
Passing balls back and forth (yes, he will actually pass it back to you now!)
Getting into everything he's not supposed to
Crawling up the stairs
Pulling himself up to anything and everything
Swimming!

Weekend With Mimi and Pops

Weekend With Mimi and Pops

My dad and Mary came down for the weekend to get some Elliott time!  They helped us finish the spare bathroom, took Elliott swimming, and did some shopping! What a fun weekend

The one who can't swim is teaching Elliott how to swim... :)

He does not like being on his back!

Fun Weekend

This weekend was our first weekend home with no plans in a long time so we took full advantage of spending time together as a family!

Helping Mom cook

Adding a whole new dimension to yoga

I'm not sure this is what "Mother and Baby" yoga is supposed to be?

Mmm...yogurt!

New book from John Lemen in Texas

First time swimming.  He was a little skeptical at first, but after he warmed up he was having the time of his life.

Sooo much fun!!

The World Is Mine To Explore

The World Is Mine To Explore

I finally got sick of rolling around to get places so I decided to give in and try this thing called "crawling." Pretty much everyone has been trying to get me to do it the last 4 weeks so I figured there must be something fun about it.  Oh man were they right!!  I can get from one end of the room all the way over to the end of the room in just a few seconds.  And the best part...I can now get all those things that Mom and Dad don't want me to play with.  Outlets. Space heater. Laptop. Phones. Remotes.  So I figured why stop with crawling?  I pulled myself up in my crib the next day and I crawled up the stairs 2 days later.  Unfortunately, I heard Mom saying something about "gates." I'm not sure what those are but it can't be good.

CHRISTMAS

CHRISTMAS 2012

Christmas always seems like a whirlwind of activities, and this year was no exception. We successfully attended 5 Christmases in December (Extended Currie’s, Lageschulte’s, Currie’s, Lorenzen’s, and Schoneherr’s).  We have such an amazing and loving family and we always have so much fun when we get together.

Extended Currie's in Polk City
2nd Cousin Heidi Greubel, Great Grandma Olympia, Elliott

Lageschulte's in Storm Lake

Addison wanted Elliott's toy but Elliott wasn't ready to give it up

I think he was excited to open presents

Bath time - Elliott wasn't too excited about sharing the tub

Currie's in Odebolt

He's not quite a Mozart yet, but close

Hanging out with Grandma

Great Grandma Olympa...she just beems every time she gets to see him

I'm not so sure about this thing you call a kitty

Ok, I can do this now that Grandpa is holding him

Schoenherr's in Ida Grove
Addison helping Elliott open his presents...AGAIN :)

Elliott got bowls and measuring cups from Aunt Abby. What a great present!

Oooo...what could this be?

YES! It's exactly what I wanted!

Still excited!

8 MONTHS

8 MONTHS

As you can see from the pictures, Elliott CAN'T SIT STILL.  His arms and legs are always flapping and he is constantly reminding you that he is in the room with either his loud shrieks of joy or shrieks of "hey, pay attention to me."

Highlights:
  • He had his first stomach flu. 8 days. Yes, he threw up for 8 days straight...Mom did a lot of laundry.  He lost close to 4 lbs and you could see it in his cheeks.  I guess that's one way to lose those chubby cheeks! Don't worry, he ate his way back to his normal weight. Mom could hardly keep up with making his food.
  • We are on the move!  He's not quite crawling yet but he can get from one end of the room to the other by rolling or scooting backwards.
  • He loves to roll a basketball back and forth with you.  He actually does a really good job with timing on when to catch the ball.  We still have to work on passing it back, but he does push down on the back of the ball and it kind of pops it out...which is close enough for me!

Schedule:
5am - wake for a 6 oz bottle (he can't seem to break this one since he's been sick), go back to sleep until 6:30
6:30am - wake for the day
8:00am - breakfast
9:30-10:30am - nap
11:00am - lunch
12:30 - 6 ozs
1:30 - 3:00pm - nap
3:30pm snack
5:30pm - dinner
6:30pm - bottle
7:00pm - down for the night
